Victoria is passionate about psychological health and safety and believes it’s the foundation for all other safety work to be successful. Prior to joining the SWITCH BC team, she was Vice President of Pandemic Planning and Executive Lead, Experience for Island Health where she led the COVID response and immunization efforts of 30,000 staff, medical staff, and volunteers to support a population of more than 860,000 people. Early in her career at the Saskatoon Health Authority, Victoria was the provincial lead for safety and created a provincial safety alert system that brought staff safety and patient safety together. She supported the development of a provincial health safety management system (HSMS) that’s now implemented across Saskatchewan. She has a Master of Health Studies and Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition.

Meribeth BurtonCommunications Director @ SWITCH BC
Meribeth is a veteran journalist and communications leader. For 20 years, she was a television news anchor and reporter on Vancouver Island. For the past 10 years, Meribeth has been a media relations and strategic communications leader with the provincial government and other organizations including Island Health and BC Transit. Most recently, Meribeth had the privilege of supporting the Ministers of Education and Health with crisis communications expertise, issues management, event planning, stakeholder relations, media relations, and media and social media strategies. Meribeth believes communication is the key in healthcare, taking often complex information and making easy to understand for everyone. Meribeth has a diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Canadore College and a Graduate Certificate in Professional Communications Management from Royal Roads University.
